Shawhead Primary pupils spread festive cheer by delivering presents to the village

Shawhead Primary School has been busy with another Christmas enterprise.

This year the children set up their own company - Secret Santa – with the brief to create a gift, wrapping and a message for everyone in the village. It followed a similar move last year to keep in touch with the local community while they are unable to go to the school for events.

The children organised teams to create the decorations, the wrapping and the message as well as teams to publicise the event and plan for numbers needed – which involved a wee walk through the village counting houses.

The whole school then walked through the village singing carols and Christmas songs and delivering their gifts. It was a lovely afternoon where the children really enjoyed giving something to the community.

There have already been emails and cards thanking the children for their efforts and the best thing were the smiles on the faces of those recipients who opened the door to happy children singing Christmas songs.
