Shaven-headed gunman targeted 36-year-old in Renfrew with bullet hitting window of flat

Police have revealed a bullet hit a flat window in Renfrew on Thursday night when a man pulled a gun during a targeted street attack.

Officers are appealing for information after the firearm was discharged in Cardon Square.

Police say that a man was confronted in the street at around 8.35pm.

One of the men, described as being of heavy build with a shaven head, pulled a gun on a 36-year old man and fired it.

No-one was injured but the bullet smashed the window of an adjacent flat.

The gunman got into a white Audi RS3, which was parked in the cul de sac and made off. It is believed there was also a passenger in the car.

Detective Inspector Robert Bowie, of Paisley CID said: "The information I have at present leads me to believe that this was not a random attack and the 36-year-old man was the intended victim.

"If you have information about the identity of the driver or recognise his description, or that of the car he was driving, I would urge you to get in touch as a matter of urgency.

"Although this is most likely to be a targeted incident there will be increased uniform and high-visibility patrols in the Renfrew area to help reassure the public. Anyone with any concerns should engage with any of the officers."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland via 101 - quoting incident 4135 of 27 June 2019. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
