Shaun Wright-Phillips sends advice to son D'Margio on how to succeed at Manchester City

Manchester City favourite Shaun Wright-Phillips has highlighted what areas his son D'Margio needs to improve if he is to succeed at the club.

The winger made over 150 appearances for City before going on to win the Premier League with Chelsea and his son has been signed with the Blues since age 11.

After impressing in the youth ranks, D'Margio signed his first professional contract in September 2019 and has been tipped to follow in his father's footsteps and make a breakthrough in the City first-team.

The 18-year-old has made five appearances for the City Under 18 side this season, scoring one and registering one assist.

His father acknowledged the prospect of breaking into Pep Guardiola's side is tough but hopes he will succeed with the Blues.

"For me, I hope he does break through at City, but everybody knows it’s a tough challenge," he said during an ask me anything session on Reddit.

"But he’s at the right place to learn from great players and a great manager.

"He’s quick, he’s very skillful, and he’s got a very good cross. You can see he does get his goals as well."

Despite his quality, Wright-Phillips believes the starlet needs to continue to mature as well as looking to work on the physical side of his game in order to cope with the rigours of the Premier League.

He added: "I think for me, now, he’s just got to mature, and I think he might need to be a bit physically stronger."
