Pundits have agreed that St Johnstone defender Shaun Rooney should have received a red card for a clash with Stephen Welsh at Hampden
The Celtic defender had to come off the park in the second half in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final after an aerial duel with right-back Rooney.
At the time, referee Nick Walsh book the St Johnstone man as Ange Postecoglou's men went on to book their spot in the final.
However, it adds to the Australian's injury concerns at the back with Carl Starfelt missing with the crucial Europa League clash with Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday.
Despite the whistler's decision to keep the Rooney on the park, the pundits took a dim view of the crunching coming together.
Celtic legend John Hartson told Premier Sports: "I think his (Rooney's) elbow is up.
"When you watch it back and slow it down; and obviously Stephen Welsh is caught heavy because he has had to come off.
"But that for me I think in today's game, with the rules that referees have to adhere to, he is a very lucky boy not to get a red card."
Rangers icon Ally McCoist then chimed in: "There is no doubt about that.
"It was a little bit like the handball goal, initially I thought it was a pretty straightforward booking.
"When you see it again, it's clearly and elbow, he's clearly hit him with the right elbow."
Derek McInnes added: "If that is in England it's a red card once the referee has reviewed that, so he is lucky.
"Obviously the boy Welsh has had to come off and I hope it's nothing serious for him."
