On Monday, NFL Network started the countdown of the top 100 players in the league. Former New York Giants center and Super Bowl Champion, Shaun O’Hara, happened to be a guest host on “Good Morning Football” and was posed a question in anticipation of where last year’s rookie class would rank on this list.
O’Hara was adamant that Giants star running back Saquon Barkley belongs in the Top 10 on NFL Network’s list.
That’s some pretty hefty praise for Barkley, who has played just one year in the league.
Saquon certainly lived up to the hype in his rookie year and could see even more touches than last year following the departure of Odell Beckham Jr. Barkley broke many records in his first year with Big Blue, but has consistently said he would trade stats for wins.
O’Hara’s praise is not outlandish — many already believe that Barkley is the best running back in the league. It’s also not out of the realm of possibility that Barkley will have even better stats in his sophomore season as the Giants are expected to have an improved offensive line.
Time will tell as the list is revealed in the coming weeks where Barkley will rank. There’s no denying that even if he doesn’t end up in the top 10, he certainly belongs in the conversation.
