Shaun Maloney to Dundee on the brink of collapse as club widen boss hunt with clock ticking on new season

Shaun Maloney’s move to Dundee is on the brink of collapse as the Taysiders widen their managerial search.

Former Hibs gaffer Maloney has been in talks with Dens Park chiefs for server days but they have been unable to strike an agreement.

Dundee are now looking at other candidates as they try to find a manager who will take them back out of the Championship at the first time of asking.

The Dens Park side have interviewed five candidates and had narrowed it down to Jack Ross and Maloney.

Ross pulled out of the running and extensive talks have been held with Maloney - with the former Scotland midfielder even pictured during an apparent photoshoot outside Dens.

But Maloney has made it clear that his next managerial job has to be right for him after he lasted just a matter of months at Hibs.

The former Belgian assistant also has coaching opportunities on offer in England and with another side in the Champions League.

Dundee will need to speed up the process with their first team due to return for pre-season in the coming weeks.

The Taysiders also kick-off their Premier Sports Cup campaign at home to Hamilton on July 9th.

They have been without a manager since Mark McGhee stepped down after their relegation at the end of the season.
