Concerned Shaun Maloney admits he is worried about the length of time it is taking for Celtic to appoint a new boss.
The issues as Parkhead have been thrust into the spotlight again after Scottish Cup defeat to Rangers means the trophy cabinet will be empty in Glasgow's east end.
It marks the end of the Hoops' domestic dominance, but former Celtic man Maloney believes the club must quickly turn their attention to the future.
With Dominic McKay set to start work as chief executive, the Belgium coach reckons a quick-fire appointment is needed to catch Steven Gerrard 's side next term.
Maloney told BBC Sportscene: "It's difficult to judge from the outside but I think with the new chief executive coming in, and that being brought forward, it feels that they are trying to accelerate the process.
"They have to really because next season's planning should already be done.
"The technical director, the coach, these things are linked. The director has to be linked with whoever the head coach is.
"I think the process has to begin pretty quickly."
Host Jonathan Sutherland joked they need to have the new manager in yesterday.
Maloney said: 'Ideally, but it doesn't always work out that way."
