Shaun Maloney believes re-signing Fraser Forster could be key to a historic 10th title at Celtic.
The goalkeeper re-joined the Hoops on loan from Southampton last season and was key to a domestic double.
His performance against Rangers in the Betfred Cup final was a huge factor in bringing the trophy back to Celtic Park, and the England international also starred in the Europa League.
Maloney knows a good shot-stopper when he sees one, as he works with Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois in the Belgium set-up.
And former Scotland player reckons Forster’s impact at Celtic last season should not be underestimated.
Maloney told PLZ Soccer : “For sure, Rangers are going to come back with a challenge again. I think watching the derby before New Year, and the League Cup final, when I thought Rangers were very good, we all expected a really strong challenge.
“Although Celtic have been so dominant for so long they’ll still look to try to improve the squad.
“Signing Fraser, was huge. He was just an enormous presence – and in big games, against Lazio and in the Rangers cup final. So, if they can get him back it would be a huge signing.
“(The price) seems to be an issue. But I’m really hopeful they can bring him back.”
