Shaun Maloney meets Hibs owner Ron Gordon ahead of Premier Sports Cup final with deal to become new manager imminent

Shaun Maloney is still in talks over becoming the new Hibs manager, ahead of the Premier Sports Cup final.

The Hibees meet Celtic at Hampden on Sunday, and will be led by interim boss David Gray

It's expected Maloney will take over after that, and the Edinburgh Evening News reports that he has been locked in discussions with majority shareholder Ron Gordon.

The 71-year-old flew in ahead of the showpiece match, and met up with the prospective new manager to try and conclude negotiations.

Gary Caldwell is set to be appointed as the former Scotland international's number two and it's understood that Maloney will appoint another coach to his backroom staff.

Hibs legend Gray will be aiming to repeat his Hampden heroics when he faces Ange Postecoglou's side at the weekend.

The 33-year-old famously scored Hibs' winner in the 2016 Scottish Cup final over Rangers and the interim boss will be buoyed by the midweek win over Dundee.
