Shaun Maloney 'lined-up' for coaching role in Celtic's summer rebuild

Shaun Maloney is being targeted for a coaching role in Celtic 's summer rebuild.

The former Hoops winger has already started a promising coaching career after hanging up his boots in the summer of 2017, and has been a part of Roberto Martinez's backroom team with the Belgian national side since 2018.

Maloney has already been a coach at Celtic previously after briefly taking up the role of leading the Under-20 development squad, but now he could be about to return to his former club in a much more prominent job.

Aussie boss Ange Postecoglou is set to become Celtic's new manager later this week, and the Daily Record are reporting that Maloney will be one of his trusted l ieutenants after this summer's Euros.

Maloney has already allegedly been in talks with Peter Lawwell over the terms of his return to Glasgow, with he and Martinez set to return to club football before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
