Shaun Livingston is happy to not have to go to Cleveland for Finals

The Golden State Warriors are headed to the NBA Finals for an impressive fifth year in a row, and they’re also going for a three-peat and fourth title in five seasons overall. For the previous four seasons, it has been the same opponent: LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Yes, those two teams met in the Finals in each of the last four seasons with Golden State bringing home the Larry O’Brien trophy three of those four seasons. With James heading out west this past offseason, it officially ended any chance for a fifth straight meeting.

With the Toronto Raptors advancing to the Finals after finishing off the Milwaukee Bucks, it has a fresh air feeling and Shaun Livingston is all for it.

The Warriors have opened up as big favorites in this series as they have all of the experience of playing on this stage while this is the first time being in the Finals for a lot of the Raptors roster. Outside of Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, Serge Ibaka, and former Warrior Patrick McCaw, nobody else has seen an NBA Finals on Toronto’s roster.

Game 1 is May 30 from the Scotiabank Arena at 6:00 p.m. PST.
