Shaun Dion Hamilton is catching the attention of Redskins coaches

Shaun Dion Hamilton suddenly has bigger-than-expected cleats to fill for the Washington Redskins.

Hamilton hinted at some upside a season ago but was set to play a rotational role in 2019 until the Reuben Foster injury dashed the team’s plans.

But Hamilton has been prepping like he’s a starter and it shows — especially when Jay Gruden makes a point to single him out.

“Shaun Dion Hamilton, along with Fabian (Moreau), are the two most improved players out here,” Gruden said, according to Mark Inabinett of AL.com.

Last season, Hamilton got on the field for four starts and it could be a whole lot more next year. But the Alabama product had two seasons end early in college due to injury, so it will be interesting to see if the Redskins use a rotation.

Either way, Hamilton’s continued upward swing is good news for a team with little depth inside despite new arrivals via free agency and the draft.
