Sharp rise in the number of people cheating on their partners in Leeds

New figures reveal the startling number of people in Leeds who admit to having secret affairs.

The city ranks within the top 10 nationwide for play away partners, with almost 10,000 more people in Leeds admitting to cheating than in nearby York and plenty more than in Liverpool, too.

The total number of people in Leeds signed up to married dating site Illicit Encounters has risen to 19,104 - a 9 per cent increase on last year.

It means that one in every 100 people across the city has signed up to the website, with that number even higher in certain parts of Leeds.

According to the website, the highest concentration of adulterers in Leeds is in LS11. More than 1,130 people in the city centre, Beeston and Holbeck are sneaking off for secret sex with strangers.

Cheaters are also prevalent in LS10 (Hunslet, Middleton and Stourton) and LS12 (Armley, Farnley and Wortley), with close to 1,000 people admitting to playing away in both of these areas.

Married couples in LS24 can (probably) breathe easy though, as less than 150 people here are signed up to the affairs website.

The website has also revealed an interactive map, where you can type in your postcode to see how many people living nearby - or perhaps even under the same roof - are having an affair.

"Adultery is booming in Leeds with a 9 per cent increase in the last year," said IllicitEncounters.com spokesman Christian Grant.

"Lots of couples in West Yorkshire cannot afford to divorce due to the cost of establishing two new homes, so they are sticking with their partner and adding some spice to their marriage by discreetly having an affair.

"Both sides can have some fun without upsetting things at home."
