Sharon Stone edged out in favour of younger model

• It looks as if Basic Instinct 2 has run into yet more trouble, with America's New York Post claiming today that the film's producers are now looking for a younger actress to replace Sharon Stone in the hope that this will help to attract a better leading man (see earlier story). Although the studio and Stone's spokesperson both deny the rumours, the newspaper reports that Stone may be preparing a lawsuit as her contract stipulates that she is paid a $15m (£10m) fee even if she doesn't star in the sequel to the blockbuster which brought her to fame.

• A documentary following the antics of Birmingham's favourite bad-boy rocker, Ozzy Osbourne is being tipped to pick up an award at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival which begins today. According to music site music365, We Sold Our Souls For Rock & Roll, which receives its world premiere at the festival in Park City Utah today, is believed to be the favourite to pick up an award in either the documentary or audience favourite categories.

Robin Williams and Edward Norton are rumoured to be teaming up in a new comedy about the world of children's TV presenters. The $40m (£26.66m) film Death To Smoochy will follow the enduring rivalry and off-screen bickering between the hosts of two long-running daytime series on American television. A source close to the movie says, "The assumption is that kids' television is full of cuddly, clown figures and ladies with grey hair. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is every bit as ruthless as adult television production, which makes the whole thing hilarious."
