Sharon Osbourne's husband Ozzy defends her after her fallout with Sheryl Underwood

Ozzy Osbourne has leapt to the defence of his wife Sharon Osbourne in his first public comments since her fallout with The Talk's Sheryl Underwood.

Sharon and Sheryl got into a heated argument in March following a discussion about race that began with Meghan Markle's comments in her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

And now the musical star, 72, has finally spoke out in defence of his wife.

Talking about the situation Monday on his SiriusXM show Ozzy Speaks, he admitted that "Sharon has been going to the mill lately".

Speaking to his co-host, the Black Sabbath star said: "She's been through the mill of it and, you know, all I can tell you if my wife was slightly racist, I'll tell you she's possibly the most unracist person I've ever met. And I'm not just saying that."

He revealed that his 68-year-old wife was "devastated" with how things had panned out after Sharon tried to defend pal Piers Morgan.

In the exchange with Sheryl, 57, Sharon said: "I feel like I'm about to be put in the electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is racist, so that makes me a racist ... for me, at 68 years of age, to have to turn around and say, "I ain't racist, what's it gotta do with me?"'

CBS said in a statement about Sharon leaving The Talk that her behaviour towards her co-hosts "did not align with our values for a respectful workplace".

And Ozzy said on Monday that his wife was confused as to why the channel was saying this.

He added: "It's still an unpleasant issue ... it's one of them things once you're accused of it, people tar you with that brush and it's very hard to shake off."

He also said that Sharon had now "weathered the storm," and was "marching on."

The singer described the controversy as simply "another bump in the road," and was adamant that the pair will get through the issue.
