Sharkmob, a Swedish video games developer, has signed for a new London head office giving it substantial room to expand.

The company, which is working on games such as vampire themed Bloodhunt and is owned by tech giant Tencent, has a team of 36 working in the capital. But it has agreed to take 40,000 square feet at Eighty Strand where there is scope for it to have up to 250 employees in future.

Many gaming firms have thrived during the pandemic, with high customer demand as people spent more time at home while lockdowns were in place. They have attracted a number of new fans.

Sharkmob which opened its London division in 2020, has agreed a let with landlord Strandbrook Limited for the space at Eighty Strand, where substantial revamp work has been done.

James Dobrowski, managing director of Sharkmob London, said: “Our rapid expansion led to the need for new workspace where our colleagues can collaborate and create in the same place.”

He added that the site the firm will go to “was ideal for us because we could take a large amount of new space on a single floor”.

The UK division is currently in a smaller site in Soho, and will move to its new home in Spring 2022.

Sophie Willson, on behalf of Strandbrook, said: “Sharkmob are a very exciting occupier to welcome to Eighty Strand, and we look forward to our association with them as their success undoubtedly continues.”

Property agents Cushman & Wakefield and HBC Real Estate advised on the deal.
