Sharkey appoints business development director Jim Black

Construction group Sharkey has appointed industry heavyweight Jim Black as its business development director.

Black, from Falkirk, moves from his role leading business development at the Scottish office of construction giant ISG. Before his move into the building industry he worked in the motor industry as a corporate sales manager for Mercedes.

He will work alongside managing director Billy Harrison to support business growth and source new opportunities.

Harrison said: “It’s a real coup having Jim join the business and it comes at an important time for Sharkey as we move into our next phase of growth in Scotland and across the UK.”

Last year Sharkey's projects included the multi-million pound fit-out at Morgan Stanley’s Glasgow office, the £24 million conversion of Baxter Brothers jute mill in Dundee into the Indigo Hotel and Staybridge Apartments, the refurbishment of Holland House halls of residence at the University of Edinburgh and the £14 million fit-out completion of Quartermile 4 in Edinburgh for Cirrus Logic and Bank of Montreal and its BMO Global Asset Management division.

Sharkey, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has offices in Edinburgh, London and Manchester. It has a strong order book into 2020 with newbuild projects a fast-growing revenue stream.constr
