There was no need for Chief Brody to run down the sand screaming at everyone to get out of the water, but a shark did stray into the shallows in Swansea Bay on a sunny Sunday.
A fisherman landed what is believed to have been a baby shark on Swansea 's seafront on the afternoon of June 6, where it remained in the shallows. The catch was made close to the Secret Beach Bar and Kitchen.
One witness, Matilde Reggio, said: "A man fishing on the beach caught it, and I think the first thought was that it was a big fish. But then it was realised it was probably a baby shark."
But this wasn't quite the famous scene from classic film Jaws, and Mayor Vaughn would have been well within his rights to insist that the beach remained open.
"There was a little bit of panic, because there were children in the area, but the man fishing tried to get him to go back out to sea," said Ms Reggio.
She added: "No-one was expecting to see a shark and lots of people were taking photos and filming it."

Last year, a shark was spotted in Caswell, where it had become caught in a pool of water and cut off from the sea. On that occasion, beachgoers attempted to save the creature by digging trenches in the sand to allow it to get back to sea. This time the shark was able to make its way back to deeper waters.
"After about fifteen minutes it was able to eventually make it off, and swam back out to sea," said Ms Reggio.
So we won't be needing Quint on this occasion...or a bigger boat.
