Omar Sharif is being sued by a valet at a Beverley Hills restaurant over claims the veteran actor punched him and called him an insulting name.
According to the suit filed last month by Juan Anderson of Mastro's Steakhouse, Mr Sharif became angry when his Porsche SUV was not ready upon his departure from the restaurant following a visit on June 11 this year.
Mr Anderson says the Dr Zhivago star was drunk and intimidating, calling the Guatemalan a "stupid Mexican" when he refused to accept a 20 euro note.
The suit seeks $50,000 in civil penalties, unspecified damages and legal fees.
However, a police spokesman said Mr Anderson had refused medical treatment and had no visible injuries.
Mr Sharif's lawyer, Martin Singer, told Courttv.com his client had not attacked Mr Anderson.
He said: "My client simply had an argument with a parking lot attendant. He didn't touch the guy. There would be no claim if he wasn't famous."
Mr Sharif received a one-month suspended sentence and a fine of 1,400 Euros in 2003 after being convicted of striking a police officer at a casino near Paris.
