Wood shot to fame in the 1980s as one of Britain’s most popular standup comics, with shows such as Victoria Wood as Seen on TV and Wood and Walters, with her longtime collaborator Julie Walters, and early tributes have talked about her inspirational and infectious skill as a comic.
