Much-loved star of stage, TV and film Alan Rickman has died at the age of 69. Rickman had been a household name in cinema since starring as Bruce Willis’s adversary Hans Gruber in the 1988 Die Hard film, and he followed up the memorable baddie role as the Sheriff of Nottingham in 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and as Rasputin in an acclaimed 1996 adaptation. He found a fresh legion of fans as Professor Snape in the Harry Potter films.
