It’s been 10 years since hurricane Katrina pounded the US gulf coast and caused disastrous flooding in New Orleans after levees failed to hold back the water. Looking back, what’s your most vivid memory?
We like to hear from anyone and everyone who remembers the storm and its aftermath: people who survived the hurricane and remain living in New Orleans today; residents who fled before the storm to never return; citizen heroes who helped out, and people who felt shocked by the crisis, but felt so far away.
Submit your memory as a written story, as a photograph with a caption or a short video. You can also use the GuardianWitness smartphone app or the Guardian app and search for “GuardianWitness assignments”.
We will use the most interesting contributions in our reporting.
