Shannon Briggs claims Mike Tyson has agreed to exhibition fight

Shannon Briggs has claimed he and Mike Tyson have agreed to an exhibition fight.

Former undisputed heavyweight world champion Tyson has had no shortage of offers after confirming he is plotting a comeback.

The fighter formerly known as the Baddest Man on the Planet recently returned to training, sparking reports of a return to the professional ring.

But he is more likely to take part in exhibition bouts with Briggs and former bite rival Evander Holyfield among his possible opponents.

And Briggs, 48, who held a world title for seven months 14 years ago, claims he has already struck a deal.

“I just talked to Mike Tyson, it’s going down, me and Mike, we’re going to make it happen, it’s official, you’re going to see it happen, Brownsville versus Brownsville," he said.

"Me and Tyson are going to lace up the gloves, we’re going to rumble, rumble in the jungle.

"We’re going to let our fists do the talking."

Briggs last fought in 2016 when he stopped Emilio Ezequiel Zarate in the first round but has been inactive since.

Tyson last walked to the ring in 2005 when he retired on his stool after the sixth round of his fight against Kevin McBride.

And Briggs recently admitted he fears being hurt if he takes on the 53-year-old legend.

"The money is there, the money is almost there, I can't say much more, I'll leave it at that," he said.

"This is for charity, this is exhibition, I want people to understand.

"We all know it's an exhibition and then we will see what's left in the tank.

"It's for charity, it will be fun, but this is Mike Tyson we are talking about. He naturally hits hard, so he might hit me and he might break my rib.

"We have to be fully prepared."
