Shankill Road attack investigated by police

A man has been taken to hospital after sustaining head injuries in an attack in Belfast on Saturday.

Police are investigating the incident on the Shankill Road at around 6.30pm.

They said a man in his 40s was attacked by two other men.

A spokesman said: " Police in North Belfast are investigating the report of an assault on a man aged in 40s on the Shankill Road on Saturday 7 September.

" The man was assaulted by two males at around 6.30pm near the junction with Conway Street and sustained injuries to his head which required hospital treatment.

"Anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information is asked to call police at Tennent Street on 101 quoting reference number 1441 07/09/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
