Shankill Paramilitary Crime Task Force raids lead to two arrests

A man and woman, both aged 25, have been arrested following Paramilitary Crime Task Force raids in the Shankill area.

PCTF officers and the PSNI's Tactical Support Group searched two houses in West Belfast today under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Police said a number of items were seized including a quantity of herbal cannabis, Class C controlled drugs and cash, all of which is suspected to be criminal property.

The two arrested are suspected of possession of Class B controlled drugs with intent to supply and are currently being interviewed by detectives at Musgrave Police Station.

Detective Inspector O’Neill said: "These searches are further evidence that PCTF are proactively investigating criminality linked to illegal drug dealing activity.

"Drugs cause misery to users and their families and the proceeds of their sale go to fund paramilitary activity. We urge anyone with information about any criminality linked to drugs should contact police on 101 or anonymously through the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111, which gives people the power to speak up and stop crime and help us keep your community safe.

"You can also submit a report online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/. Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/."
