Shangela thanked "legendary Mother" RuPaul after he said she should have been crowned the winner of Drag Race.

The 41-year-old former contestant, who was the first to be eliminated in the show's second season, said she is "grateful for the opportunities" RuPaul has given her and thanked him for his "acknowledgement".

During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, RuPaul was asked which runner-up queen should have taken home the crown.

Without hesitation, the 62-year-old said: "Shangela. She's amazing. We actually put her on the show like three times.

"She's a fabulous Queen."

Shangela, known as Chantize Darius Jeremy Pierce outside of drag, shared the clip on Instagram, writing: "Waking up to this video today … WOW.
