Shane Warne's family share touching tribute on what would have been his 53rd birthday

Shane Warne's family have paid tribute to the legendary cricket star and his enduring legacy on what would have been his 53rd birthday.

Warne tragically passed away in March after suffering a heart attack while on holiday in Koh Samui, Thailand at the age of just 52 and, six months on from his death, the spinner's family have shared a touching tribute. "A legacy gives you a perspective on what's important," they wrote on Warne's social media accounts.

"It is about the richness of an individual's life, including what they accomplished and the impact they had on people and places. Shane's Legacy will live on.

"Happy birthday - always in our hearts". The post was accompanied by three heart emojis and an image of Warne.

The world of cricket has also been paying tribute to Warne, with legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar tweeting: "Thinking of you on your birthday Warnie! Gone too soon. Had so many memorable moments with you. Will cherish them forever mate."

Former England captain Michael Vaughan, a close friend of Warne's, posted an image of the pair on Instagram with the caption: "Happy birthday King … Thinking of you & all your lovely family today xxx"

Ex-Australia captain Michael Clarke also shared a picture of him with Warne on Instagram, simply writing: "Happy Bday legend Miss ya".

Former India star Yuvraj Singh wrote: "Fondly remembering this great legend on his birth anniversary! A man who defined class and accuracy on the pitch through his zest for perfection! May you shine the brightest wherever you are mate #HappyBirthdayShaneWarne"

Warne is widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers to ever play the sport, having taken 708 Test wickets across his legendary career - a figure only surpassed by Muttiah Muralitharan's 800. He also helped Australia win the 1999 Cricket World Cup and has picked up more Ashes wickets than any other bowler in history.
