Shane Warne reckons he's made hair transplants 'cool' and nobody should be ashamed

Shane Warne has revealed he feels he was the leading force in breaking down the stigma around hair transplants.

The professional cricket player, 50, became open about his hair loss and bald patches after under going a hair transplant a number of years ago.

Now, he's opened up about how he feels that by him speaking out about the procedure, it has become less of a big deal among men.

Shane believes that by him admitting to having had a hair transplant, it makes it 'cool' rather than something to be ashamed of.

Speaking to Confidential, Shane insisted that times have moved on and nobody should be embarrassed about undergoing the treatment.

"I think I have helped so it is cool to do it rather than that stigma of being known as the guy who has had his hair done.

"It is not like the 60s when people used to stick on the toupee and people would take the micky because they could tell, it is not like that anymore".

Shane, who is an avid ambassador for Advanced Hair Studio also opened up about the fact that he was once incredibly self-conscious about his thinning hair.

Before the transplant, he was constantly trying his best to cover up his crown where his hair was getting thinner by the day.

In a bid to disguise his balding, Shane would be sure to keep his hand on his head while out and about with friends and family, as well as big public appearances.

He also wouldn't leave the house without wearing a hat or keeping one very close to him on occasions where he couldn't don any form of head gear.

Speaking of his decision to seek professional help, Shane admitted that the pressure of TV cameras during his cricket career made him increasingly self-conscious of his condition.

The star decided that he would give growing his hair one more chance, but after it failed and his crown began to bald, it was the final straw.

"When you're watching the cricket, the camera is always on your crown when you're bowling the ball. It magnified what was going on with my head" he explained.
