Shane Warne has disagreed with Ricky Ponting 's claim that the current England side is the worst he has ever seen tour Australia.
England lost the Ashes inside 12 days in humiliating fashion, with their batting line-up failing to pass 300 at all during the series.
Ponting, who captained Australia in four Ashes series, has been damning in his criticism of Joe Root's side.
"I don't think I've seen a worse-performing team in Australia than what I've seen over the last three games," he told cricket.com.au after Australia's crushing win in Melbourne sealed a series victory.
"Some of the English top-order batters that I've seen in the last couple of tours, without giving names, there's some techniques there that I just know are not going to stand up at Test level."

However, Warne disagrees with Ponting's claim that the current England side are the worst team to ever tour Australia, suggesting the 2003 England team was worse as they lost the Ashes inside 11 days.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Warne said: "I don’t think it is [the worst ever]. They lost the Ashes in 12 days and that’s not a record. I think Nasser Hussain’s team lost it in 11!
"I don’t think it’s the worst team that ever toured Australia, but I think it’s some of the worst decisions in pure, basic cricket terms.
"I just can’t see how those selections have been so wrong. The first Test match, on a green seamer, two weeks of rain, which had never happened before in the history of Brisbane – to not pick Broad and Anderson?
"Then to play five seamers in Adelaide, when it was spinning square, it just didn’t make any sense at all.
"I’ve never seen an England side come over to Australia and make such bad decisions. There are sides who have played worse and not played as well. But they’ve never made so many bad decisions."
