Shane Lowry's Offaly homecoming details announced after Open Championship win at Royal Portrush

Shane Lowry's Open Championship triumph homecoming has been confirmed after the Offaly man won the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush.

Lowry got his hands on his first major crown on Sunday after a phenomenal week ensured he finished a whopping six shots clear of the rest of the field.

And after the 32-year-old partied through the night on Sunday, belting out 'The Fields of Athenry' with friends and family before continuing celebrations in Dublin on Monday afternoon - he's set to return home to Clara.

He's set to return home to Clara Green on Tuesday evening at 6 pm in an event hosted by RTE's Des Cahill - with guests such as Offaly folk singer Mundy and Mullingar impressionist Conor Moore set to provide entertainment.

Fans from far and wide are sure to flock down to the Offaly town to celebrate with Lowry as he basks in the glory of his achievement.

It comes after Lowry dedicated the win to his family and fans after a phenomenal week saw him clinch his first major.

In a speech after his trophy presentation, he was lost for words after a momentous win in front of a big Irish crowd at Dunluce Links.

Lowry said: "What can I say? I just have so many people to thank, first of all the R&A for such a great event.

"To have an Open here on the island of Ireland and at Royal Portrush is amazing. I love this place and to be able to come here and play an Open was great.

"A lot of people in my backroom team: my coach Neil (Manchip), my caddie Bo, my management team - I definitely wouldn't be standing here without them."

Lowry fought back tears as he dedicated the win to his parents, adding: "They sacrificed so much for me when I was younger and I'm so happy that I can hand them this trophy tonight.

"My wife and my little girl, to have them here today is just extra special.

"Last but not least the volunteers and all the fans, thank you so much, this one's for you."
