Shane Lowry finishes CJ Cup in style with low closing round

Shane Lowry ended his week in Las Vegas on a high with a final round 64 in the CJ Cup on Sunday.

On a week of low-scoring, Lowry's four-under-par total after three rounds left him some 17 shots behind 54-hole leader Rickie Fowler.

But the Offaly man clicked into gear in the final round at the Summit Club with four birdies seeing him make the turn in 32 strokes.

Lowry then picked up shots on four of his last six holes to post a bogey-free round of 64 and move into the top 50.

The former Open champion has opted not to play in next week's Zozo Championship in Japan.

Meanwhile, Rory McIlroy is out in the final group in Vegas alongside Fowler.

McIlroy's sizzling third round 62 had him just two shots behind the American going into the final 18 holes.

The Holywood man is looking to put a bad run of form behind him and record his first PGA Tour victory since last season's Wells Fargo Championship in May.

"It's an exciting day for me," he said ahead of the final round.

"I'm working on a few things in my game. Not necessarily swing related, but more mental stuff, routine, visualisation, things that I've done pretty well this week for three days.

"It's exciting to try to do those things when you're under a little more pressure tomorrow and you're trying to win a golf tournament. So I'm excited to see how that goes."
