Shane Lowry enjoys time off visiting legendary racehorses at JP McManus' stud farm

Shane Lowry has taken to Instagram to share snaps with the legendary Istabraq and Minella Times.

The Open Champion was in action in Mount Juliet last week where he finished in a tie for 26th in the Irish Open.

And the Offaly man travelled from Kilkenny to Limerick and he was in for a treat when he got to meet Istabraq and Minella Times at Martinstown Stud.

Both horses are owned by Irish billionaire JP McManus and retired Istabraq is living it up in Limerick after winning three Champion Hurdles in a row at the Cheltenham Festival between 1998 and 2000 as well as the Aintree Hurdle in 1999.

Minella Times shot to fame this year, winning the Grand National under Rachael Blackmore.

And Lowry, who is a big horse racing fan, was happy to be snapped alongside the two legends of the sport.

He said: “What a treat today getting to meet Istabraq and minella times today down in Limerick.”

The Open Champion is involved with the ‘Clara Jug Syndicate’ and had a stake in the horse Theatre of War.
