Shane Lowry admits he 'shed a tear' as Offaly shock Dublin in Leinster Under-20 final

Shane Lowry has admitted he shed a tear as Offaly shocked Dublin in the Leinster Under-20 final.

The Faithful County shocked the Dubs on Thursday evening with an enthralling 0-15 to 3-03 win.

And for the Offaly die hards, the victory represented hope for the future of the county after years in the doldrums.

And Shane Lowry, who is the son of Offaly legend Brendan Lowry, admits he got emotional watching the win.

Posting on Instagram, Lowry said: "Very proud of these young lads tonight…. It’s been a while since we’ve won something and my god does it feel good. I may have shed a tear or two .@officialoffalygaa"

And the Offaly GAA account replied to Lowry, saying: "Great occasion, super result. Thanks very much."

Lowry was previously announced as sponsor of Offaly GAA for the upcoming season and is heavily involved with his local GAA club.
