Shane Kingston crowned Fitzgibbon Cup Player of the Year

Cork hurler Shane Kingston has been named theFitzgibbon Cup player of the year after starring in UCC’s run to the title.

The Douglas clubman was the main scoring threat as they won the competition for a record 40th time, hitting 0-4 in the one-point final win over IT Carlow to be chosen as the Electric Ireland Higher Education GAA Rising Star Hurling Player of the Year.

Kingston is also one of six UCC players picked on the Fitzgibbon  team of the year with four from IT Carlow, while semi-finalists DCU DE (three) and Mary Immaculate College (two) complete the final 15.
