Shane Duffy set for Glasgow return as Celtic flop in line for Brighton's Ibrox friendly

Celtic flop Shane Duffy looks set for a return to Glasgow this summer after his parent club Brighton announced a friendly in Glasgow with Rangers.

The Republic of Ireland captain joined the Hoops on a one-year loan deal last summer in order to play a key role in the Parkhead club's bid to win a tenth consecutive Premiership title.

However, the experienced centre-back endured a miserable spell in Scotland after his form deserted him and he was eventually unable to even get on the Celtic bench following a string of under-par displays in the first-half of the campaign.

Duffy swiftly returned to Premier League side Brighton at the end of the season but it seems he'll be back in Glasgow sooner than expected - only this time he'll be turning out at Ibrox.

Graham Potter's men will travel north for a pre-season friendly against Steven Gerrard's Gers on Saturday, July 24, with both sides set to square off in an evening kick-off at 5:30pm.

Duffy managed just 25 appearances for Celtic last season, with only 18 coming in the Premiership, where he turned out in two Old Firm Derby defeats.
