Shane Duffy's time at Celtic could be coming to an end this transfer window

Shane Duffy's time at Celtic could be drawing to a close this transfer window.

It has been reported that EFL Championship club Nottingham Forest have made contact with Brighton over signing the Republic of Ireland defender.

Duffy joined Celtic on loan last summer but has endured a testing time in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic currently trail Rangers by 21 points leaving the club's quest for a fabled 10-in-a-row lying in tatters.

Now the Scottish Sun are reporting that Forest have approached Brighton over signing the player.

The City Ground outfit are managed by Chris Hughton who Duffy previously played under.

Celtic assistant manager John Kennedy stated last week that Duffy remains in Celtic's plans.

He said: "Shane had a couple of personal things that he had to leave Dubai for, so we sent him back on that basis."

He added: "From then on in Shane will be in our thoughts in terms of the games, but we just had to give him some time to sort some things out."
