Shane Duffy's Celtic spell could be brought to an end as Nottingham Forest 'make Brighton approach'

Nottingham Forest have reportedly made contact with Brighton over signing Shane Duffy.

The Republic of Ireland defender joined Celtic in a £2million loan deal last summer, but has endured a tough time in Glasgow.

He left the Hoops' controversial Dubai training camp early last week before playing in the club's 1-1 draw with Hibernian on Monday night.

The Scottish Sun reports that Forest have approached Brighton over signing Duffy, with the Derry native's former manager Chris Hughton in charge at the City Ground.

Hoops assistant manager John Kennedy stated last week that Duffy remains in Celtic's plan.

He said: "Shane had a couple of personal things that he had to leave Dubai for, so we sent him back on that basis."

He added: "From then on in Shane will be in our thoughts in terms of the games, but we just had to give him some time to sort some things out."

Celtic would have to agree to cut Duffy's loan deal short for him to join Forest, while he would also have to take a wage cut.
