Shane Duffy's Celtic loan move 'not gone as well' as hoped as Brighton boss analyses transfer

Graham Potter admits things haven't 'gone as well' as Shane Duffy hoped when he agreed a move to join Celtic.

But the Brighton boss insists he'll be there for the entire campaign and they'll reassess his situation at the Amex in the summer.

The Premier League outfit allowed him to leave in the summer to join his boyhood heroes after he looked to get the move done as soon as Celtic were interested.

He had been out of favour at the Seagulls and Neil Lennon's men jumped at the chance to sign him but he's made a series of high-profile errors.

With Celtic now 23 points behind Rangers with two games in hand, there were suggestions the Irishman could return to the south of England but Potter insists there's no chance of that happening in the final few hours.

He said: "Shane is at Celtic for the season, that was the arrangement – he was keen to go there and Celtic were keen to have him.

"It’s a season-long loan and we will assess at the end of that season, it’s probably not gone as well as he would have liked.

"But I have said before that Shane is a fighter, he is a good character and a good guy. I am sure he will be fighting to make things better."
