Shane Duffy reportedly holds talks with Neil Lennon over Celtic move

Celtic have made a move to bring Shane Duffy to the club - according to a report.

The Republic of Ireland defender is looking for a way out of Brighton after struggling for regular starts since Graham Potter took over, reports The Daily Record.

Duffy is a boyhood Celtic fan and Neil Lennon has already held talks with him about swapping the south coast of England for Glasgow's East End.

The Daily Mail say they've discussed the option of a one-year loan that would see Duffy challenge Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer AJer for a starting spot.

The 28-year-old is understood to be keen on a switch to the club, but a deal is still in the early stages.

The centre back is under contract at Brighton until 2023 and the two sides need to agree a loan fee and how much wages will be paid by the Hoops if the move goes through.

But Celtic face competition from a trio of Premier League clubs with West Ham, Burnley and newly-promoted West Brom all interested.

Last week, Duffy joined in with a host of Celtic fans who chanted his name during a singalong in his native Derry.

Duffy was spotted with friends in the pub when Celtic fans sang his name and the big defender joins in after looking a bit uncomfortable at first.

But he appeared to enjoy the singing and even tried to down a pint in the video.

The former Everton youngster had made a name as one of the hardest defenders in the league but Potter’s change of system at Brighton left him on the bench last season, with just 19 league appearances.
