Shane Duffy receives emotional Celtic transfer plea from Rod Stewart as rock legend sends personal message

Rod Stewart has issued a personal plea to Shane Duffy as he encouraged the defender to join his beloved Celtic.

The former Faces singer is a regular at Parkhead, and is frequently snapped wearing club gear.

The Premiership champions are in talks with Duffy over a potential move, with the Brighton defender weighing-up his options.

The Irish international grew up supporting Celtic, but also has options at Leeds United and West Ham.

Rock legend Stewart has sought to tip the balance though, sending Record Sport his personal plea for Duffy to join his boyhood heroes.

The singer, whose hits include Maggie May and Do Ya Think I'm Sexy, posed with a handmade sign which reads: "C'mon Shane, you know it's the right thing to do."

On Monday Duffy dropped the latest hint over his future as he posted an picture taken out of an aeroplane window, with his brother also getting in on the act.

Tony Duffy took to Instagram to post an image of the Celtic crest, causing fans to speculate that a move is getting closer.

Manager Neil Lennon is keen to strengthen his defence, with Christopher Jullien and Kris Ajer the only recognised senior centre-backs at the club.
