Shane Duffy pays emotional tribute to his dad on first Father's Day since his death

Shane Duffy has paid an emotional tribute to his dad Brian on the first Father's Day since his death.

Brian, a native of Ard O'Donnell in Letterkenny, Co Donegal, passed away suddenly at his Derry home last month aged 53.

Paying tribute on Instagram, Duffy wrote: "Happy Father’s Day all the dads out there! Different one this year for me missed everyday more and more love you bigman keep looking out for us all."

Brian travelled all over the world to watch his son play for the Boys in Green.

Duffy watched from the bench as Brighton & Hove Albion came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday.

Fellow Irish international Aaron Connolly helped set up Neal Maupay's late winner against the Gunners after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The Seagulls, who are five points above the relegation zone after Saturday's win, have a tough run-in with Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool among their opponents in their next five games.

Next up for them is a trip to Leicester to face Brendan Rodgers' side who are third in the table and just six points off City in second.

That match takes place at 6pm on Tuesday and will be shown live on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event.
