Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Shane Duffy has the opportunity to 'prove people wrong' following his nightmare loan spell at Celtic last season.
The 29-year-old Irish international had a torrid spell at the Hoops last season as they failed in their bid to win ten in a row.
There were high expectations for Duffy at Celtic as the defender with years of Premier League experience arrived north of the border.
His time at Celtic under Neil Lennon is one Duffy will be hoping to quickly forget having returned to his parent club, Brighton.
He has already got off to a fast start on the south coast with Brighton having won their opening two matches of the season thus far, with a 2-1 away victory at Burnley and a 2-0 home victory against Watford.
Duffy played the full 90 minutes in both matches as Graham Potter's side make a 100% start to their league campaign.
Former Premier League star and now Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp believes that Duffy has got the capabilities to prove everyone wrong from his failed time in the Scottish Premiership at Celtic.
Speaking to Sky Sports Redknapp said: "It will feel so good. He got criticised heavily. A lot of people thought it would be the dream move to go up to Celtic.
"Go up there. Win the league. Of course, it didn’t work out that way. He didn’t play very well. His confidence would have been, to a certain extent, on the floor.
"So you never know quite what is going to happen.
“He has come back to Brighton and it couldn’t have gone any better for him. I spoke to Adam Lallana this morning and he said ‘give Shane Duffy a good mention’.
“And he has been proven right. He scored a goal and played so well.”
