Shane Duffy in cheeky post Celtic nightmare quip as he warns teammate to forget Parkhead dream

Celtic flop Shane Duffy has warned Ireland teammate James McLean to let his dream of playing at Parkhead go after his nightmare spell at the club.

The centre-back is a regular again for Brighton after a year where he endured a nightmare in the Scottish Premiership.

He is making his mark in the English Premier League but it's doubtful the defender or the Celtic Park support will look back on his spell at the club fondly.

It appears he can at least have a wry smile about the disastrous stint, as he posted a smirking snap with Wigan winger McLean to Instagram.

McClean is a boyhood Celtic fan and has been consistently linked with the club over the years.

However, Duffy reckons the club may have been put off by taking a gamble on players who grew up as diehards like him.

He told fellow Derry-native McLean over a snap of the two training ahead of the World Cup qualifier in Azerbaijan: "Celtic said they don’t want no more Derry boys, let it go!"

Duffy has recaptured his best form in the English Premier League this term after a surprise second chance under Graham Potter.

The 29-year-old has played a vital role in the clubs early climb to sixth in the table, recently playing a vital role in the stalemate with Arsenal.
