Shane Duffy has last laugh in Odsonne Edouard clash as post Celtic revival continues in style

Odsonne Edouard's post Celtic rise to Premier League prominence continued on Monday night as he made his first start for Crystal Palace.

But there was a familiar face in his way as his old teammate Shane Duffy lined up once again for Brighton.

And it was the Irishman who had the last laugh when Graham Potter's side stole a point through a late equaliser from Neal Maupay.

The two played together under Neil Lennon last season as Edouard took part in what would be his final season at Celtic Park before Palace swooped.

He was joined by Duffy who endured a difficult loan spell at his boyhood club.

But the big Irishman has since shown his Celtic spell was the exception rather than the rule as he's returned to inspire Brighton to a formidable start to the Premier League season.

He's been an ever-present at the back for Graham Potter's side so far and they chased a fifth win in six games at the home of rivals Palace.

Brighton were trailing 1-0 heading into stoppage time and Duffy was presented with a chance to equalise but could only send his header into Vicente Guiata's gloves.

The bustling centre-back was also involved in a late challenge that left Palace's Spanish keeper on the turf clutching his shoulder.

That came just seconds before a long ball found Maupay in the box and he lobbed Guaita to secure a dramatic point that kept Brighton sixth in the Premier League table.

For Edouard, it was a more subdued performance than Palace fans may have expected. It was Wilfried Zaha's penalty that broke the deadlock for Palace with Edouard unable to find a way past Duffy.

He was withdrawn for the final 20 minutes with Christian Benteke taking his place.
