Shane Duffy Celtic transfer latest as Nottingham Forest 'cool interest' in on-loan defender

Nottingham Forest have 'cooled' their interest in Celtic defender Shane Duffy and are focusing on attacking options, according to a report.

The defender has struggled since moving to Glasgow on loan and Forest were interested in taking over the deal from Brighton and taking him to Nottingham.

But the Daily Record report that Forest have decided against moving for him in this window and plan on focusing on attacking options for now.

Forest currently have former Rangers loanee Joe Worrall and ex-Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna at the heart of their defence.

Duffy has plenty of experience of the English Championship after spells with Blackburn and Brighton and will be hoping to turn things around at Celtic Park.

A series of high-profile errors means he's dropped down the pecking order, although he is currently the only fit and available senior centre back with Christopher Jullien injured, Nir Bitton suspended and Kris Ajer self-isolating.

He was partly to blame for Hibs' equaliser in Monday night's 1-1 draw after failing to clear the ball off the line properly and allowing Kevin Nisbet to smash home.

But it now looks increasingly likely that he will be sticking around at Celtic Park for the rest of the campaign.

Neil Lennon's men currently sit 21 points behind league leaders Rangers, and take on Livingston on Saturday.
