Shane Dowling insists Ger Loughnane has it wrong after the former Clare supremo labelled Limerick as champions without depth during the League.
Treaty boss John Kiely used 35 players in the NHL, even continuing to change personnel after opening defeats to Galway and Waterford.
For ex-Limerick marksman Dowling, the stat underlines the strength in numbers that Kiely has at his disposal, despite Loughnane’s criticism which came after those early losses.
He said: “All you’ve got to do is look at the last couple of years while Limerick have been successful, it hasn’t just been the first 15, has it?
“Ger has to keep himself occupied too, so that’s his own business.
“But I think Limerick have been very fortunate over the last couple of years where they haven’t got a whole pile of injuries, and I’m half contradicting myself because Mike Casey and Richie English were both out last year and players could adapt.
“So what other team could lose two of their full-back line and be able to adapt as quickly as Limerick have? If people think that’s not having a strong enough panel outside of their first 15, then they’re sadly mistaken.”
