The Boston Celtics are expected to listen to offers for veteran point guard Dennis Schroder according to new reporting from The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The NBA insider related Monday morning that “(r)ival teams expect the Celtics to be open to talks around guard Dennis Schroder, who inked a one-year deal with Boston in the offseason but has had a strong season that likely prices him out of a potential re-signing.”
Given the league’s collective bargaining agreement limits how much Boston can offer the German floor general next season with the value of his current deal on the team’s mini- mid-level exception of $5.89 million, this has always been one of the more likely outcomes.
Had the Celtics seen a higher level of team success, there might be pressure to hang on to Schroder despite his potential trade value.

Now, Boston seems better positioned to move the veteran guard for draft assets and cap space, or perhaps packaged with another player to bring back a contract or two the Celtics can hang onto beyond this season.
Schroder is putting up 17.5 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game this season, and could intrigue a number of teams looking for a short-term boost to their scoring options.
