Shams: LeBron James feeling ‘fine enough’ to play Saturday at Blazers

It appears that even LeBron James’ own prognosis that he suffered a setback to put him back where he was last week was a little pessimistic, which is understandable considering his recent history with groin injuries on Christmas.

Ultimately the Lakers got some good news after Christmas that LeBron’s sore right groin responded well to treatment on Thursday and that James will travel with the team and is expected to play Saturday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

It’s good news that James feels good enough to play but that also needs to be weighed against a couple of other factors. One is that several within the Lakers have reportedly urged LeBron to rest his groin and the other is that he is turning 35 years old on Dec. 30.

James has always been different when it comes to rest and that seems to be the case again with his latest issue. Nevertheless, given the recent history with LeBron and soft tissue issues around the holidays, people won’t quiet down about their concerns until he comes out and shows that there’s nothing to worry about.
