Shams: Former Boston Celtics two way guard Tremont Waters signing with Toronto Raptors

Former Boston Celtics two way point guard Tremont Waters is among the more recent beneficiaries of the NBA’s decision to aggressively use 10-day hardship exemption contracts to fill roster spots of players unable to play after being sent to the league’s health and safety protocols with positive COVID-19 test results.

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that the Toronto Raptors will sign the former Celtic to such a deal, having most recently been playing for the Wisconsin Herd, the G League affiliate for the Milwaukee Bucks. Drafted 51st overall by Boston in the 2019 NBA draft, the Connecticut native moved on from the Celtics after two seasons with the team in a two way role.

After signing on with the Herd, Waters averaged 17.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2.7 steals per game while shooting a solid 36.4% from deep and 42.1% from the field.
