It seems that the Boston Celtics, while interested in Philadelphia 76ers point forward Ben Simmons in a potential trade between the two Atlantic Division rivals, never entertained the notion of trading All-Star forward Jaylen Brown for the disgruntled Sixer.
Speaking in an interview on the Pat McAfee Show, The Athletic’s Shams Charania — author of the article which first linked Brown and Simmons in potential trade discussions — related that “the Celtics did engage the Sixers on Ben Simmons and had conversations, but those conversations weren’t something that the Celtics wanted to acquiesce to. When it comes to Jaylen Brown, they didn’t want to move (him) for Ben Simmons.”
The Athletic NBA insider continued, saying “when it came to Philadelphia being hard-charged on getting Jaylen Brown in any scenario … I think it ended being like, ‘yeah, we’re not listening.'”

This likely comes as little surprise to fans given Boston’s reluctance to part with Brown in potential trades for far superior players, particularly given the lack of leverage the 76ers currently have in the situation.
